Steven D. Epps was born in Sumter, S.C., the oldest son of Douglas T. Epps, Jr. and Elizabeth (Betsy) C. Epps. He grew up in Spartanburg County.
Before receiving his Juris Doctor in 2004, Mr. Epps was an intern to United States Magistrate Judge Claude W. Hicks, a student member of the William Augustus Bootle Inn of Court, vice president of the Public Interest Law Society, and lead counsel of his ATLA Mock Trial Team.
Mr. Epps returned to Spartanburg to serve as the law clerk to the Honorable J. Mark Hayes, II, Circuit Court Judge, after sitting for the bar. He then moved to Charleston to become an associate with the Hood Law Firm, practicing in the litigation fields of construction law, insurance defense, medical malpractice, and general practice litigation. Mr. Epps joined Thurmond Kirchner Timbes & Yelverton, PA, in February 2007 as an associate in the firm's construction and civil litigation practice groups.
Mr. Epps and his wife, the former Rachel Michelle Garrett of Lawrenceville, Georgia, live in Mount Pleasant and are active members of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church.
