Michael A. Timbes grew up in Conway, South Carolina. Prior to law school, he served as a project coordinator for a commercial contractor along coastal South Carolina, gaining valuable experience in the field of construction. After graduating with honors from the University of South Carolina School of Law, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Kaye G. Hearn, then Chief Judge of the South Carolina Court of Appeals. Mr. Timbes began his career in private practice as a business litigator in Atlanta, Georgia, where he worked on complex business disputes and assisted with successful state and federal appeals. Mr. Timbes then moved to Charleston, where he co-founded the law firm of Thurmond Kirchner Timbes & Yelverton, P.A. Mr. Timbes leads the firm’s business litigation, civil litigation, and appellate practice groups.
Mr. Timbes enjoys the challenge of resolving complex issues of law, and he has argued successfully before the South Carolina Supreme Court. He also has served as an adjunct professor of legal writing and research for the Charleston School of Law.
Mr. Timbes and his wife, Ashley Rivers Timbes, live on James Island.
